We all have dreams in life. Things we want to accomplish before our days are done. Some areas easily attainable by simply going to school, getting straight A’s, and working at a “good” paying job. Other’s, on the other hand, is tough, far more difficult to bring to fruition than what’s humanly possible. Long nights of sacrifice and sleep deprivation only to get countless doors shut in your face from chasing your dream.

Growing up in a single parent household was rough. There’s been a consistent time in my life where things were tough and experienced many struggles. One of the most memorable moments in my life when I was in 4th grade. My mother had lost her job at the time, and that was the only income that was coming into the household. It was just my mother, me and my little sister. We were on government assistance and food stamps after that, so $800 a month was the most we ever had gotten. My mother had struggled to pay bills, and we had nothing to our name.
Our electric bill was super high, and we struggled to pay rent on time. Those were the 2 things that we struggled with most. It made all of us feel uncomfortable, especially me. I was depressed, angry, and motivated all at the same time to want to change things for my family forever when I had the chance to. I not only wanted things to change, I NEEDED things to change. I was age 10 when this was happening, and I promised myself and my Mother that I will become very successful, have my own business, and not only will we NOT be struggling anymore, but we will thrive, and that I would help other people who were in the same situation we were in.
I only had one job in life and I did not like it too well. I only worked there for 2 years
because I had to. After that, I had quit becoming a full-time entrepreneur. Most people think that owning a business is too much work, and too risky, so they just settle for wants more comfortable which is a job. To me, it was the complete opposite. It was harder working for someone else seeing how much the bosses boss was making compared to me (the employee) was making. I thought to myself “If I can work this hard for someone else, I can, sure enough, work this hard for myself” and make myself a lot more than what I’m making here.
I’m a believer in making myself rich and not a boss. I always had a business mind from a very early age and knew that I wanted to start my own business, I was just never sure what time of business that I wanted to start. As I got older and put more thought of the type of business I wanted to start, I came up with “Urquhart Investments LLC” which is my real estate business, and “Ambit Energy” which is my energy company.
The reason why I chose energy and real estate as businesses is that they are 2 things that people will always need without question! Two business that is not optional that people will always buy. Energy is not a product, it is a service. Electricity is the #1 bill that people pay first for any other bill. Me knowing how much some people pay for electricity, and knowing it’s always needed to do just about anything I was a no-brainer business for me. Income will not only come in heavy every month but will come in residually!
Property is also something that everyone needs. Everyone needs a roof over their head. No matter the condition, location, or history of the property there will ALWAYS’s be someone who buys property. Real estate is also one of the top ways to generate long-term wealth, and as a child, I love drawing and creating with houses and loved building my dream home on paper, so my attachment with houses, and helping people get into a home became a passion for me.
I worked very hard on my businesses and my craft for 5 years since I started, and it has
definitely paid off big time. I wanted to give my children and the generations to come a business that could be passed down. I knew that someone in my family had to change things, and I wanted to be the one to do that. Ever since I have never looked back, and very thankful to be able to have accomplished what I have at 24 years of age and build 2 profitable 6 figure businesses.
There have been a lot of hours I had to dedicate in the beginning, and a lot of sacrifices that I had to make, but it has paid off big time.
